Supporting
Promoting Protecting
We support, promote, represent and advocate for the healthy development of Steiner Waldorf education in contemporary, diverse contexts.
Steiner Education Aotearoa New Zealand (SEANZ) operates as an umbrella organisation for all playgroups, early childhood education settings, schools, and training institutions that embrace the Steiner Waldorf approach to education in Aotearoa New Zealand.
-
Early Childhood
From birth to seven years children are nurtured in playgroups, early childhood centers, kindergartens, and nursery settings throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.
-
Primary School
Children begin their primary schooling years starting in Class One the year they turn seven and finish in Class Seven. There are four State Integrated Steiner Waldorf schools in Aotearoa New Zealand that offer pure primary schooling. There are also some private schools that offer a Steiner Waldorf primary education.
-
Area School
Secondary schooling begins with Class Eight and finishes with Class Twelve. There are five State Integrated Area Schools that offer both primary and secondary education in Aotearoa New Zealand. There are also private schools that offer a full primary and secondary education.
-
Teacher Education
To work in Steiner Waldorf Early Childhood and Schools in Aotearoa New Zealand teachers embark on professional development to support working with Steiner Waldorf philosophy.
Willing, Feeling, Thinking
Steiner Waldorf education seeks to integrate thinking, feeling, and willing into a balanced, holistic approach. Rather than isolating intellectual learning from emotional and practical development, Steiner Waldorf early childhood education settings and schools aim to nurture all three aspects simultaneously, recognising that they are interdependent and essential for a well-rounded individual.
-
